| While Im waiting for this site to load I would like to mention about a show I had seen on discovery channel. It was about a swordmaker in Eroup who made swords for movies. The interesting par of this was that the blades are aluminium. To keep things lightweight for the carriers. I have a couple of long straps of aluminium stored away that I have thought about doing something like this. |

I would not bother. Supposing I said to you that there were knives on a website that were made of aluminum and they could be shipped for $5 less would you buy one ?
Knife makers don't agree about much but one of the universal truths in knifemaking that they do seem to agree on is that a knife which does not have a proper edge is unsafe and a danger to the user.
What happens when the aluminum in the blade crystalizes and during a performance the blade detaches from the handle and sails into the audience, who will pay the hospital expenses of the victim?
Making fake knives and swords for whatever reason is folly in my view. So far we have had a bronze age and an iron age but no aluminum age, and with good reason since aluminum is not suitable for the purpose. |
